A feathered Song

There was once a swan
Like the Arctic white wilderness her feathers shone
The Earth gave her the dream of togetherness
She sought her consort and dancer in the sun's redness
Her maiden Swan-song calling him like a pipers love poem
Alas! Her voice too faint through the clamour and heavy industrial drone
A Swan singing gently to her beloved on empty waters
Now only the forgotten feathered song of our lake's daughters.
